Craigan has a point to prove

Published: 04 Jul 2009 - 17:14:45

Llanelli defender Stuart Jones headed the only goal of the Europa League qualifier when he directed home a free header from a back-post corner. Gannon appeared to criticise the Northern Ireland defender but Craigan is determined to bounce back for the second leg in Wales on Thursday. "You have to take it on the chin," Craigan told BBC Radio Scotland. "I haven't spoken to him since but I'm sure over the course of the next few days there might be a conversation taking place. "I'm a big boy, I'm not shying away from anything. I'm quite happy to put my head out there and say 'come and have a swing at it if you want'. "There's nobody more disappointed than myself when we lose a game. "Yes, I have a little point to prove, but similar to the Andy Murray situation, you turn it into a positive, you try and learn from it and try and make yourself a better person." Gannon had responded to a question about what he would do to solve Motherwell's vulnerability at cross balls. "The bottom line is we have got an experienced centre-half who doesn't compete for the ball and they get a free header," the former Stockport boss said. "Players have responsibilities on the pitch and they have to carry them out to the best of their ability."
