Brown set for Motherwell job
29 Dec 2009 - 09:08:01
Craig Brown is set to be appointed as Motherwell's new manager on an interim basis.
The former Scotland manager has held talks with the Fir Park board following Monday's sacking of Jim Gannon.
The Scottish Premier League club parted company with Gannon after citing a breakdown in relations between the manager and the club's board.
A 3-1 home defeat at the hands of St Johnstone spelled the end for Gannon, who only took charge at Fir Park in the summer.
Gannon was axed for "repeatedly" refusing to sign a contract and Brown now looks set to take the helm on an immediate short-term basis until the end of the season
The 69-year-old has been out of club management since leaving Championship side Preston North End in 2004.
"They are hoping to reach some kind of agreement with him tomorrow (Tuesday)," confirmed a club spokesman.
"They were looking to see who was available on an interim basis."
