Motherwell boss Craig Brown has been named as the SPL Manager of the Month for January, having led the Steelmen to three wins and a draw last month.

The former Scotland national team coach initially stepped in on an interim basis following the exit of Jim Gannon, but is now preparing for a longer-term stay at Fir Park, alongside assistant Archie Knox.

He told reporters: "We have the job until the end of next season. The chairman asked us to stay on for at least 18 months, so we are committed.

"When you're dealing with players, trying to keep them or sign them, we can confidently now say we'll be here next year. That might chase some away but we hope not.

"Most of the players say 'are you going to be here?' or 'is Archie going to be here?' and when we say we are, I think it is helpful."
