Brown content with Well show
16 Jul 2010 - 12:42:21
Motherwell manager Craig Brown was content with his side's 1-0 victory at home to Icelanders Breidablik in the first leg of their Europa League second qualifying round tie.
A Ross Forbes goal gave the Steelmen a slim advantage for next week's return, but Brown believes that his side can ensure further progress.
He commented: "I'm happy we didn't concede, which is important in Europe. One of the prime objectives was to make sure we kept a clean sheet.
"You could see the emphasis I put on not conceding. We usually bring Mark Reynolds up for corner-kicks, but because of his pace at the back, we didn't.
"I'm convinced we'll manage to score up there. I would like to have got a bigger lead and we have got to be very respectful of the Icelandic side because they played well.
"We lacked a bit of sharpness in front of goal, but one of the benefits of playing our first competitive game is that we'll get a bit more sharpness and fitness."
