Brown amazed by fightback
06 May 2010 - 09:27:35
Motherwell manager Craig Brown admitted Wednesday's 6-6 thriller with Hibernian in a vital Scottish Premier League game was a first for him.
The Steelmen found themselves 6-2 down with 25 minutes left to play in a game which could have settled the race for fourth place in the final SPL table and a spot in next season's Europa League.
But a stunning fightback from the home side, capped by a superb last-minute equaliser from Lukas Jutkiewicz, ensured that the race for fourth place will go right to the final game of the season.
Motherwell still lead Hibs by one point following the highest scoring match in the history of the SPL.
"I can't remember being involved in a match that was quite so close with so many goals scored," said Brown.
"I'm proud of our players because of their capability to fight back.
"We were behind at half time and I said if we pull Hibs back they would have a fit of the jitters and that's how it transpired.
"But I didn't expect them to get another couple of goals."
