Back to work

The squad returns to Fir Park for four weeks of fun filled pre-season training before the SPL opener at the end of the month. July is a holiday time for many fans but our thoughts are with the guys as they sweat it out. The fitness routines will be broken up with the four friendly matches against Morton, Dumbarton, Partick Thistle and Leeds but there are sure to be lots of aching limbs in the next few weeks.  Tom Hateley had this to say when he spoke to the Evening Times -  “Any player will tell you that he would rather get fitness back through playing games rather than just running and slogging it out.  So to have the first pre-season game at Morton a week tomorrow is a big plus. I can’t wait to get going again. To be rounding things off with the game against Leeds is a great plus for us.  You want to be measuring exactly where you are the week before the season begins, and you want to do that against top-quality opposition.” Michael Higdon and Nicky Devlin will join up with their new team mates and it is widely expected that Nicky Law will join them on Friday when his contract with Rotherham expires.  It is likely that Stuart McCall will have a few more players in mind to join his squad and no doubt he’ll be hoping to sign them sooner rather than later. This will be the first pre-season for McCall and Black and the squad will have to adjust to the new routine.  Meanwhile, many fans will be off on their summer break – good luck lads, work hard. Players resume training - fans get in holiday mood
