Saturday's win will give everyone at Fir Park a much needed boost. Not only did the team put one over on a former manager but, of greater significance, a three game losing stream was ended. After nine SPL games we have five wins and a draw to our credit.  A healthy total of sixteen points has us in third place in the table with games against Dundee United and Hibs to come before the first cycle of games is complete.  That’s a situation every Motherwell fan would have dreamed of before the season started.  As a bonus the winning goal came from one of our developing strikers.  McHugh has filled out considerably since his debut in May 2008.  Mark McGhee gave the 16 year old a fifteen minute run in the final game of the season at Easter Road.  He earned a win bonus that day thanks to goals from Lappin and Murphy.  On Saturday his determination to rob Foster on the wing and his well placed shot delivered the bonus to his team mates.  There was also satisfaction that we kept our 100% record against an Aberdeen side under the charge of Knox and Brown.  Their verdict was that they didn’t deserve to lose the game and that the goal was “soft”.   On the other hand McCall pointed out that we hit the woodwork twice and he reckoned that we “just shaded it”. We have a trip to Tannadice next week before another international break.   United won both league encounters at their home ground last season.  Time for a change?
