New signing McNeil on stand-by for Morton debut due to Gaston concussion

Morton's recent signing Andy McNeil could go straight into the starting line-up to face visitors Dumbarton as regular goalkeeper Derek Gaston suffered a concussion in last weekend's Scottish Cup win at Annan.

An ankle injury keeps Luca Gasporotto out with knee problems ensuring Frank McKeown and Peter MacDonald remain sidelined.

Manager Jim Duffy said: "Dumbarton have been tough opponents all season and there has been little between us in the three meetings.

"Their manager Stephen Aitken tweaked his squad well during January so this will be a tough game.

"However, after the disappointment of losing a two-goal lead at Alloa in midweek we're determined to bounce back."

Dumbarton's Jamie Lindsay will miss out due to a cut foot as they look for the win that would pull them level with their hosts in the table.

Manager Aitken said: "If we could be on the same points mark as Morton in February it would be a great achievement.

"We had to dig deep last weekend to keep Dundee out in the Scottish Cup and earn a replay. We will need those same qualities again in this game.

"We believe that we are a better side than the one that lost the last meeting with Morton back in October. This game will tell us if that is the case."
