Carmichael hands Doonhamers lifeline

Daniel Carmichael's late goal helped Queen of the South grab a 2-2 draw at Morton and give them hope of surviving the drop.

The home side went agonisingly close to taking the lead after eight minutes, but Darren McGeouch's rasping drive struck the post.

Morton took the lead after 32 minutes, Fouad Bachirou connecting with a Peter MacDonald cross to clinically volley home inside the box.

The away side equalised 15 minutes after the restart, when Kevin Smith's cross was converted by a thumping Sam Parkin's header, but Morton went back in front minutes later when MacDonald made no mistake with his close range header.

Parkin turned provider for the equaliser 11 minutes from time, setting up Carmichael who lashed in from six yards.
