James Craigen fires late penalty winner as Raith edge Morton

James Craigen's 90th-minute penalty helped Raith move above Morton in the Ladbrokes Championship after a 2-1 win at Cappielow Park.

The home side, who came into the match on the back of a six-game unbeaten run in all competitions started well, with Alex Samuel forcing Kevin Cuthbert into an early save.

Their early perseverance paid off as they took a 23rd-minute lead, Samuel this time finding the net with a rebound after Cuthbert had kept out Ross Forbes.

Rovers were grateful for Cuthbert saving from Thomas O'Ware's point-blank header, with the follow-up then cleared off the line, and the misses proved crucial as the visitors came back into it in the second half.

Ross Callachan levelled matters three minutes after the resumption after his deflected shot wrong-footed Morton goalkeeper Grant Adam.

Ray McKinnon's men, who were without a win in five, continued to look the better side and were given the chance to claim all three points in the final minute after Mark Russell fouled Mitch Megginson in the area, with Craigen making no mistake with his spot-kick.
