Morton held by basement boys Ayr

Morton's Ladbrokes Championship run without a win was stretched to seven games after they were held to a 1-1 draw by bottom club Ayr.

Lawrence Shankland opened the scoring for the hosts seven minutes before the break, but Craig Moore levelled in first-half stoppage time.

Morton almost took a 14th-minute lead as Thomas O'Ware got his head to Ross Forbes' corner, but his effort on goal was hacked off the line.

Shankland then drilled an attempt narrowly wide on the half hour, but he made no mistake eight minutes later.

Gary Oliver's shot from the edge of the box was deflected into the path of Shankland and he prodded home.

It took not take long the visitors to draw level as Moore burst clear down the right and drilled an angle shot past Derek Gaston into the net.

Greg Fleming then had to be sharp after the break to turn away efforts from Forbes twice.
