Triple injury blow for Shrimps boss

The Shrimps saw Paul Mullin, Phil Jevons and Neil Wainwright pick up injuries in the Boxing Day defeat to Accrington.[LNB]All three are expected to miss Monday's game at Spotland, with the latter possibly out for the season with an Achilles problem.[LNB]McIlroy told the club's official website: "The performance on Boxing Day was disappointing but to lose both strikers to injury certainly didn't help.[LNB]"I think both are unlikely to play against Rochdale while Neil may be out for the season which is a huge blow for him. He's had Achilles problems before and missed pre-season and you have to feel for the lad.[LNB]"Now we will have to make a few changes," he continued. "But it means that there will be a chance for others to make their mark and take their chance."[LNB]Meanwhile, McIlroy bemoaned his side's performance after their 2-1 defeat by Stanley at Christie Park on Saturday.[LNB]Phil Edwards scored twice to inflict a first defeat in nine on the Shrimps, whose only goal came via Garry Hunter.[LNB]McIlroy also saw strikers Jevons and Mullin forced off with injuries that leave them doubtful for the Dale game.[LNB]"I was really disappointed with the performance and that is something I haven't had to say for a long time," McIlroy said. "We had a massive chance to put a footing in the play-off spots but we let everyone down.[LNB]"The effort and commitment was there but we just never got going, and having got ourselves into such a good position lately we were all frustrated by the result.[LNB]"I was glad with the fight we showed after we went 2-0 down and got a goal back. We then kicked on and could even have levelled if we had had a bit more luck in the second half but it wasn't to be and we must now roll our sleeves up and show some fight to get back on the right track."[LNB][LNB]
