Thommo makes Shrimps wait

Morecambe forward Garry Thompson will wait until the end of the season before deciding whether to take up the club's offer of a new three-year contract.

The 27-year-old has made more than 300 appearances in total for the Shrimps, but has told the League Two outfit that he wants to wait and see what offers come in for him in the coming months.

Morecambe vice-chairman Graham Hodgson told The Visitor: "Garry has been at Morecambe since the early days of the academy and has played a major part in our success.

"We want him to stay and be part of the club's success for another three years at least. We offered him an improved deal which was agreed.

"We had drawn everything up and were set to finalise it, but then his agent told us he wouldn't sign it until the summer."
