Stockport 0-2 Morecambe: Report

Shrimps heap more misery on Stockport Morecambe swapped places with Stockport in the League Two table after securing a 2-0 away victory. Despite some early pressure from The Hatters, Morecambe established a two-goal lead after scoring twice in the space of three first-half minutes. Chris Shuker, who had forced a fine fingertip save from Matt Glennon after 10 minutes, opened the scoring with a header from a Mark Duffy corner, and then Jimmy Spencer netted the second from close range after some fine work by Laurence Wilson. The measure of County's abject display was that they fashioned just two half chances in the whole game, both courtesy of Robbie Williams. The first was a header that was blocked at point-blank range by Barry Roche just before half-time and the second a long-range shot after 73 minutes which Roche dealt with comfortably. Victory for the Shrimps moves them up to 20th, while Stockport replace them in 21st spot just four points better off than second-bottom Hereford.
