The 26-year-old was in a rich vein of form when he sustained a broken metatarsal which forced him to miss the last four months of the season. Now fighting fit, he is determined to make up for lost time as Sammy McIlroy's men seek to stamp their mark on League Two. Stanley said: "It was very frustrating getting injured when I did because I thought at the time I was playing the best I have for the club and probably the best I've played in my career, too. "The injury came at the worst possible time for me. I fractured my fifth metatarsal and it was the first major injury I have had. "But since the injury I've been in the gym with fitness coach Danny Birdsall and he's made me a lot stronger physically. He's worked me really hard so when I come back I will hopefully be fitter and stronger so I can start where I left off last year."
