Shrimps secure double deal

Morecambe have completed the signings of Chesterfield goalkeeper Barry Roche and former Darlington winger Neil Wainwright on two-year contracts.

Twenty-six-year-old Irishman Roche had been with the Spireites for three seasons, having started his career with Nottingham Forest, making nearly 150 appearances for the Saltergate club.

Wainwright, 29, dropping down the pecking order with the Quakers last term, having made almost 300 appearances for Darlo in all competitions.

Shrimps boss Sammy McIlroy told The Visitor: "Both players have Football League experience, which is what we have been looking for.

"I look forward to working with both players and I'm sure they will be excellent additions to our squad."
