Morecambe have unveiled plans for a new multi-million pound 6,000-seater stadium to replace their current Christie Park home.
The League Two new boys have submitted plans to Lancaster City Council for the development in the Westgate area of the town.
The Shrimps gained League status for the first time in their 87-year history last season and could be in their new home by the beginning of the 2009-10 campaign.
"The proposal will deliver a stadium worthy of a Football League side and will give an enormous boost to the club and people of Morecambe alike," chairman Peter McGuigan told the club's official website.
"In addition, it will allow the club to continue to attract top-class players to Morecambe, as well as enable us to expand our extremely popular community and youth development activities within the town.
"The new stadium will guarantee the financial stability of the club for the future and also strengthen civic pride and confidence."
