Shrimps make Harvey move

Morecambe manager Sammy McIlroy is hoping to boost his squad with the signing of Retford United striker Neil Harvey.

The 24-year-old has netted nearly 30 goals for the UniBond Division One South side this season and McIlroy believes Harvey can cope with the step up.

He told the Morecambe Visitor: "Hopefully Neil will be with us by the end of the week and we'll look at the situation then.

"He has a fantastic goalscoring record and has attracted a lot of interest from a lot of league clubs."

Meanwhile, McIlroy accepted that his side had been well short of top form in their 2-0 defeat at Shrewsbury Town at the weekend.

He added: "We went one down to Shrewsbury's first attack and never responded. We got more into the game in the second half, but never tested their keeper.

"It wasn't just a case of tired legs, we had tired minds too. We lacked passion and pride and four or five players were below par."
