Shrimps fry up delight for McIlroy

After an even first half, the Shrimps took complete control against rock-bottom Darlington to record their biggest away win since entering the Football League three years ago. The Quakers had won their last two home games but once Morecambe opened the scoring after 56 minutes it was a case of how many the visitors would score. McIlroy said: "I told the players at half-time to up the tempo and that's what they did. "We were aware that Darlington had won their last two home games and we had to set our stall out to stop them adding to that run. I felt we didn't do enough on the ball in the first half but were much, much better in the second. "Once we got the first goal our confidence soared and in the end I thought we could have had five or six. But I've no complaints, the boys were magnificent."
