Shrimps extend Carlton stay

Morecambe have extended the loan stay of Carlisle United forward Danny Carlton into a second month.

The 24-year-old has yet to score in six appearances since returning to Christie Park, but Shrimps boss Sammy McIlroy has been impressed by Carlton's performances.

He told the Morecambe Citizen: "This is good news for us because, although Danny hasn't scored yet, he has played well and has certainly improved his all-round game since joining Carlisle.

"I am sure the goals will soon come for him and he is forming a fine partnership with Rene Howe.

"On their day, the pair make up possibly the best partnership I have seen at this level of football."
