Shrimps exit looms for Artell

Morecambe manager Sammy McIlroy is willing to let central defender David Artell leave Christie Park on loan.

The 27-year-old former Rotherham United and Chester City player has not been involved in the Shrimps first team since the 5-0 drubbing at Morecambe earlier this month.

"We're looking at all options and I've decided that David Artell can go out on loan," McIlroy confirmed. "He isn't in the side at the moment and he needs to be playing first-team football, so we'll see what develops.

"It's no use David being sat in the stand, he needs to be involved so I've circulated his name.

"I'm looking at the loan market to try and bring in another new face in attack. I've identified several targets and I'm working hard on that because we're down to the bare bones."
