Shrimps end Gash interest

Morecambe have dropped their interest in Ebbsfleet United striker Michael Gash after the Blue Square Premier League side rejected a £42,000 bid for the 22-year-old.

Luton Town have also been chasing the player who grabbed 13 goals for Ebbsfleet last season.

Shrimps vice-chairman Graham Hodgson said: "We won't go any higher and will turn our attention elsewhere. We think it's a substantial bid but Ebbsfleet have told us they aren't prepared to sell.

"We want to assure our fans that we're working hard behind the scenes to bring in quality players to the club this summer."
