Former Leeds United trainee Henry McStay has penned a two-year contract with Morecambe after impressing Shrimps boss Sammy McIlroy.
The 23-year-old has made 12 appearances for McIlroy's mid-table side since signing a short-term deal earlier this year.
The defender told the club's official website: "I've enjoyed my time here since joining in February and I was really hoping that I'd be offered a deal.
"There's a great team spirit here and, even though the results haven't gone our way of late, I'm confident that we can compete well again at this level next season.
"On a personal level I'm delighted to have secured my future for the next two years and I hope I can establish myself in the team in that time.
"League Two is harder than I expected I must admit but I've got stronger the more games I've played and I'm looking forward to next season already.''
