Shrimps slump continues

Bury secured their second successive away game with a fine performance in a 4-1 win against Morecambe. The Shakers dominated the first half and went ahead through Mick Jones in the second minute when he slammed the ball into the bottom corner from just inside the area after being set-up by Joe Skarz. Steve Schumacher doubled their advantage 19 minutes later with a 20-yard drive which gave the goalkeeper no chance. Stewart Drummond pulled one back for Morecambe with a fierce volley into the roof of the net in first-half injury time and they then had a Paul Scott goal disallowed three minutes after the restart. Jim Bentley hit a post for the Shrimps before Bury added two late goals. The first came from substitute Andy Haworth, who converted a Nicky Ajose cross from close range, and Schumacher added his second after more good work from Ajose.
