Quintet released by Shrimps

Morecambe boss Sammy McIlroy has released five players following the club's first ever season in the Football League.

Damien Allen, Simon Grand, Neil Sorvel, Jamie Burns and Jon Newby will all leave Christie Park this summer and attempt to win contracts with other clubs.

The Shrimps manager told the Morecambe Visitor: "It's always a difficult time of year for a manager and difficult decisions have to be made.

"All the players have played their part in our success this year and we're all very grateful for their efforts and wish them well.''

Reserve team players Paul Jarvis, Andy Langford and Jamie Davies have also been released.
