New police operating centre opens

A police operating centre costing £11m and housing 500 staff has been officially opened in Preston.The Lancashire Police base on Lancaster Road North replaces the police station on Lawson Street which will be auctioned off. The blue police lamp, which features the Preston lamb, has been saved and placed in the new staff restaurant which has been named The Blue Lamp. A police spokesman said the building would improve performance. The animal symbol comes from the lamb of St Wilfred, Preston'.... read more
