New keeper for Shrimps

Morecambe manager Sammy McIlroy has allowed goalkeeper Steven Drench to join Southport after snapping up Watford shot-stopper Scott Loach on a month's loan.

Nineteen-year-old former Lincoln City keeper Loach has already spent time on loan with Stafford Rangers this season, making 11 appearances for the Blue Square Premier strugglers.

Meanwhile, midfielder Craig Stanley has agreed a new contract with the Shrimps that will keep him at Christie Park until the end of the 2009-10 campaign.

A spokesman told Morecambe's official website: "This is excellent news for the club.

"Craig has been a vital member of the squad since joining from Hereford United and we're delighted that he's agreed to extend his current deal.''
