Shrimps duo in fitness fight

Chris McCready and Marcus Marshall face a race against time to be fit for Morecambe's Sky Bet League Two clash with Torquay.

The duo were absent on Tuesday night when the Shrimps produced a Capital One Cup shock by beating Wolves 1-0 with McCready carrying a troublesome ankle problem and Marshall hampered by a hamstring strain.

Forward Kevin Ellison is also carrying a hamstring injury and will miss at least another week.

Hejoins long-term absentee Jack Redshaw (hip) on the sidelines with last year's top scorer unlikely to return until the new year.

Torquay will be without Elliot Benyon for the trip after he suffered bruising to his head in the midweek loss to Swindon.

Benyon was stretchered off after a clash with a Swindon player's knee and was sent for a scan on Wednesday after feeling sick, dizzy and disorientated.

And the verdict of bruising means 10-14 days of rest for the summer signing from Southend, ruling him out of the Gulls' long trip north.

One player who looks set to start again is goalkeeper Martin Rice who put in another solid display in the 1-0 loss, which included saving a second-half penalty.
