Amond to face Southend

Padraig Amond will be back in Morecambe's squad this weekend as they look to continue their unbeaten League Two record against Southend.

The striker, the Shrimps' top scorer in the league this season, has been back in training all week following a hamstring problem and could slot straight in to the starting line-up with Jack Redshaw suffering from a minor niggle.

Midfielder Jamie Devitt, on loan from Chesterfield, serves the final game of his three-match ban against the Shrimpers, who have not won in six league outings versus Jim Bentley's side, and will be available again on Tuesday for the clash with Newport.

Marcus Marshall played for the first time since December in the 5-0 loss to Plymouth following a hamstring problem but defender Andy Parrish will see a specialist because of a troublesome back complaint.

Southend remain without Luke Prosser and Adam Thompson.

The defensive duo have missed out of late due to respective calf injuries and continue to be sidelined at the Globe Arena as the Shrimpers aim to end an eight-match winless run.

Fellow defender Julian Bennett is a long-term absentee with his knee problem and unlikely to play again this term.

Should boss Phil Brown opt to make any changes then the likes of Jack Payne, Lee Barnard, Conor Clifford, Freddy Eastwood, Bedsente Gomis and Marc Laird are all pushing for recalls.
