Quartet in Shrimpers frame

A quartet of recent absentees could play some part in Morecambe's FA Cup first-round clash with Southend at the Globe Arena.

Striker Jack Redshaw made a surprise five-minute cameo appearance against Burton last Saturday but was kept out of the reserves' clash in midweek as he is eased back into action from a hip operation.

However, defender Chris McCready (shoulder), defender Chris Doyle (knee) and winger Marcus Marshall (hamstring) were all included in the reserves' squad, with the latter netting in the 3-1 win over Oldham.

Skipper Mark Hughes sits out a one-game suspension, after only just returning from a ban, for picking up a fifth yellow card of the season in the Brewers clash.

Manager Phil Brown has plenty of decisions to make.

Anthony Straker and Michael Timlin will be hoping to keep hold of their starting berths having both impressed in last Friday's 3-0 win over Mansfield, coming in as late replacements for Rob Kiernan and Cauley Woodrow after they got caught up in traffic heading to Roots Hall.

Midfielder Marc Laid continues to increase his rehabilitation after a lengthy period on the sidelines with knee and foot injuries and boss Brown must decide how much involvement he will get at at the Globe Arena.

Defender Luke Prosser will be assessed following a head injury last Friday but centre-back Mark Phillips and midfielder Conor Clifford are both suspended.
