Devitt set for Shrimps bow

Jamie Devitt could make his Morecambe debut in the Sky Bet League Two clash against Portsmouth.

The on-loan Chesterfield midfielder became boss Jim Bentley's first signing of the window when he completed a one-month loan move to the Globe Arena this week.

The Shrimps' most recent game against Exeter was called off due to a waterlogged pitch and that had given several players time to recover. Captain Mark Hughes will now play after having eight stitches in his shin, defender Andy Parrish has overcome an ankle knock, midfielder Andy Wright is fine following a groin problem and centre-back Chris McCready has recovered from illness.

Marcus Marshall and Ryan Williams remain out with hamstring injuries, though, and fellow midfielder Joe Mwasile this week joined non-league Altrincham on a one-month loan deal.

Simon Ferry and Ricky Holmes are injury doubts for Portsmouth.

Midfielder Ferry suffered another hamstring problem during last weekend's 1-1 draw with Mansfield and winger Holmes is still recovering from a head injury.

Ben Chorley joined this week from Stevenage but he will have to wait for his debut as he is still suspended having been sent off for Boro against Oldham earlier this month.

Fellow defender Danny East has an ankle injury while striker Tom Craddock recently underwent knee surgery and could be out for the rest of the season.
