Hughes out for Shrimps

Morecambe are without skipper Mark Hughes for the clash with Accrington.

The defender, who made five appearances for Stanley during a loan spell last season, was sent off for two bookable offences during the Shrimps' 3-0 loss to Cheltenham in midweek and sits out a one-match ban.

Striker Jack Sampson is being monitored ahead of the game as he continues his recovery from a concussion picked up against MK Dons last weekend.

But Chris Doyle (knee), Jack Redshaw (hip), Marcus Marshall (hamstring) and Chris McCready (ankle) all remain sidelined as Jim Bentley's men look to bounce back from their first league defeat since August.

Accrington boss James Beattie is expected to name an unchanged side for the trip.

The Football League's bottom club recorded their first league win of the campaign on Tuesday night with a 2-1 success over Bristol Rovers and Beattie is likely to retain faith in the same group of players.

Kayode Odejayi (suspension), Rob Atkinson (hamstring), Laurence Wilson (groin) and Michael Liddle (ankle) remain sidelined while on-loan winger James Caton is still struggling with the knock that kept him out of the midweek victory.

New signing George Bowerman will look to make his Stanley debut having been an unused substitute following his signing on Monday.
