Shrimps stun Robins

Morecambe sealed their third win in four games at the Globe Arena with a shock 3-1 triumph over high-flying Cheltenham.

The visitors started superbly with Darryl Duffy firing a shot inches wide after 37 seconds before heading against the post from close range.

Duffy was not to be denied for long however as he gave the Robins the lead in the 13th minute with a cool finish from 12 yards after Barry Roche saved Luke Summerfield's shot.

Cheltenham continued to pile on the pressure with Kaid Mohammed producing a weak finish from a McGlashan cross and Summerfield firing over before Morecambe hit back with a 32nd minute leveller.

Garry Hunter produced an excellent curling cross to the far post and Kevin Ellison nipped in front of his marker to glance a header into the bottom left hand corner of Jack Butland's net.

The Shrimps took the lead in the 48th minute with Izak Reid's second goal of the season when the winger volleyed home Sean McGinty's cross.

Morecambe added a third seven minute later with Ellison scoring his second as he converted another excellent Reid cross.

Phil Jevons was denied a fourth by Butland's superb save before Cheltenham staged a late rally with Sido Jombati chipping an effort inches over and former Shrimps Jimmy Spencer drilling a shot straight at Roche.
