Daggers fight back to beat Morecambe in FA Cup first-round replay

Dagenham & Redbridge came from two goals down to record a 4-2 FA Cup first-round replay win at Morecambe.

Morecambe started the game superbly and were two goals ahead within the first seven minutes.

Tom Barkhuizen gave them the lead on six minutes with a close-range finish. An Alex Kenyon header from the left-hand side was cleared off the line but Barkhuizen was perfectly placed to poke home the loose ball from six yards out.

The Shrimps added a second moments later with their next attack. Shaun Miller turned superbly on the edge of the box and drilled in a low shot that was parried by Liam O'Brien but Aaron Wildig raced in to slide home the rebound.

Dagenham hit back on 13 minutes from a penalty. Morecambe keeper Barry Roche brought down Kyle Vassell in the area and the on-loan Peterborough man brushed himself down to slot home the spot kick.

The goal saw Dagenham take control and it came as no surprise when they equalised on 37 minutes when another on-loan man James Dunne let fly with a superb volley from 30 yards that looped over Roche and into the top corner.

From there Dagenham dominated and went 3-2 up on 50 minutes when Vassell scored his second of the game from inside the six-yard box after a goalmouth scramble.

Joss Labadie then extended the Daggers' advantage 20 minutes from time with a long-range shot that beat Roche at his near post to give Wayne Burnett's side a welcome win and a home tie against Whitehawk.
