All square at Globe Arena

Morecambe and Burton had to settle for a share of the spoils after an entertaining 2-2 draw at the Globe Arena.

The Shrimps broke the deadlock just after the half hour when Lewis Alessandra scored a stunning goal as he curled an effort from the left-hand side of the box that beat Ross Atkins and went in off the bottom of the left-hand post.

That lead lasted just seven minutes as Burton equalised with a huge slice of luck. Billy Kee's free-kick looked set to be going wide but Nick Fenton could only manage to divert the ball into his own goal.

From there, Barry Roche was forced into another good save from a Calvin Zola effort and the half ended with Jason Price testing Atkins as the Burton goalkeeper did well to claw an effort away for a corner.

Burton completed their turnaround in the 53rd minute when they took the lead through the ever-dangerous Zola. Chris Palmer floated in a free-kick from the right, the ball was headed back across goal and Zola was on hand to bundle the ball over the line from close range.

The Shrimps hit back strongly and Gary McDonald secured them a well-earned point with a fine goal after 68 minutes. The midfielder collected the ball 25 yards out and let fly with a low drive that beat Atkins to his right-hand side.
