Devitt secures Shrimps win

A late goal from Jamie Devitt earned Morecambe their fifth win of the season.

Devitt was in the right place at the right time in the 82nd minute to slot home Kevin Ellison's wayward effort from six yards out to maintain Morecambe's excellent start to the season.

The same two Morecambe players combined for the Shrimps' opener in the 15th minute. Devitt swung a free kick to the far post, Andy Wright headed down and Ellison reacted quicker than any Plymouth defender to turn the ball past Luke McCormick from six yards out.

The lead only last six minutes as Plymouth levelled through a set piece of their own. Lewis Alessandra provided a perfect delivery and Peter Hartley steamed ahead his marker to direct a bullet header past the helpless Barry Roche from 10 yards out.

The game swung from end to end with Padraig Amond denied a Morecambe second by a fine save from McCormick after Ryan Edwards had headed a Devitt corner wide.

Plymouth failed to trouble the Morecambe goal until injury time when Reuben Reid's low shot was well blocked by Roche at his near post.
