Shrimps and Gulls share points

Morecambe and Torquay shared the points in an entertaining game at the Globe Arena.

Morecambe's midweek goal hero Ryan Williams added to his growing reputation with another stunning finish after 25 minutes. A break from Andy Fleming created space and he set up his midfield partner who sent a swirling, dipping right-foot shot past the helpless Martin Rice from 25 yards out.

A goal of similar quality brought Torquay level 10 minutes into the second half. The home side lost possession in midfield and the ball found the unmarked Karl Hawley who beat Barry Roche with a clinical strike from the edge of the area.

Both sides had chances to win the game with Aaron Downes heading just over and Ben Harding forcing Roche into a good save as the visitors enjoyed a spell of dominance.

Morecambe hit back when Tony Diagne worked Rice with a flick header.

In the final moments Gulls defender Dale Tonge was sent off for a second yellow card and Morecambe almost took advantage when, with virtually the last kick of the game, substitute Joe McGee hit the post following a swift counter attack.
