Cumbrians claim Globe Arena spoils

Carlisle collected their second win in succession as they ran out 1-0 victors at the Globe Arena.

A goal from David Amoo five minutes into the second half gave Keith Curle's struggling side another welcome three points.

Amoo made the most of a neat counter attack from the visitors after Morecambe had started the second period on the front foot. Brad Potts found the striker on the right-hand side of the area and he cut inside neatly to fire a left-foot shot that squirmed under Scott Davies from 12 yards out.

Morecambe hit back and dominated the rest of the game but a mixture of poor finishing and fine defending meant they failed to score for the second game running.

It took them 90 minutes before forcing Carlisle goalkeeper Dan Hanford into a save when he tipped away an effort from Padraig Amond.

He did get the ball in the back of the net in the 80th minute but his effort was ruled out for offside.

Kevin Ellison went close to breaking the deadlock in the first half but his far-post header was cleared off the lie by Antony Sweeney.
