Brewers bubbling thanks to Ismail

Burton moved up to fifth in League Two as substitute Zeli Ismail's stunning strike disposed of Morecambe 1-0 at the Globe Arena.

The on-loan Wolves winger drilled a shot from outside the area past a motionless Barry Roche 20 minutes from time to hand the Brewers a first win in four.

It had been a largely scrappy clash in difficult conditions but the visitors had the best chances.

Adam McGurk blazed over following a Tony Diagne mistake just before the hour mark, with Roche making good saves from Gary Alexander and Alex MacDonald in the first half.

For Morecambe, Jack Redshaw saw a goal chalked off for offside on the quarter hour before stinging the gloves of Rob Lainton with a shot from 10 yards in the second period.

Kevin Ellison also saw an effort blocked by Lainton, the Burton stopper making his debut having signed on loan from Bury ahead of the game.

But Jim Bentley's side are now without a win since Boxing Day and slip to 13th in League Two.
