    McIlroy runs rule over duo

    11 Jul 2007 - 13:29:36

Morecambe boss Sammy McIlroy has handed trials to Livingston goalkeeper Chris Wight and former Rushden & Diamonds shot-stopper Scott Tynan.

Young Shrimps gloveman Scott Davies is currently attempting to earn a permanent contract with GIllingham, while Steven Drench is still struggling to recover from an arm injury.

Meanwhile, McIlroy has wished Chris Blackburn all the best after the talented defender decided to leave Christie Park and sign a two-year deal with Swindon Town.

"We offered Chris a new deal, but at the end of the day we just couldn't compete. Swindon are a club he couldn't turn down," said the former Northern Ireland manager.

"We're disappointed but understand his decision. He'll be a good signing for Swindon. He's a fit lad and I'm sure will become a fans' favourite."
