McIlroy plays down play-off talk

Morecambe boss Sammy McIlroy has not given up hope of clinching a place in the play-offs. A superb run of form has left the Shrimps only four points behind seventh-placed Chesterfield and McIlroy's side have a game in hand on the Spireites. The former Macclesfield boss said: "It's been an unbelievable run and, although we aren't even talking about the play-offs ourselves, we know a win on Saturday could make things even more interesting. "Christie Park is a ground that has its own atmosphere when there's a big crowd and I'd love to see a big backing on Saturday because it could make all the difference. "Over the past few months the players have been absolutely superb for me and the club and another great crowd would be a real boost."
