McIlroy delight at strength

Morecambe boss Sammy McIlroy hailed the strength of his squad after they took another higher division scalp in a cup competition on Tuesday evening.
The Shrimps have already accounted for Preston North End and Wolves in on their way to the third round of the Carling Cup, before a 1-0 at Tranmere Rovers put them into the hat for the second round of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy.
"When I took the job there were a couple of things I needed to do. I needed to build a squad with greater strength in depth and we needed to be more resilient," said McIlroy.
"Tonight showed we've done that. A lot of players have planted seeds in my mind about what they can do and if I have to make changes in the future or if we get injuries, I know I've got about 20 players who can all come in and do a job for me.
"Morecambe have always been known as a pretty footballing side, but we're also more resilient now and are a lot harder to beat."
