McIlroy confident of success

Boss Sammy McIlroy is confident that his Morecambe side can enjoy another successful season in League Two, despite the loss of several key players.

Both Garry Thompson and Carl Baker have both exited Christie Park this summer, but McIlroy believes that his squad can cope with the losses.

He told The Visitor: "I didn't want to lose Garry Thompson and Carl Baker because they are terrific players, but they have moved on.

"It is very, very hard to replace players like Thommo and Baker, but the people that have joined give us a different dimension.

"We have got a squad of players which I think can improve Morecambe and can help the club go from strength to strength."
