McIlroy: Jevons made the difference

Jevons scored the only goal of the game with a sweet left-footed volley after 18 minutes following a goalmouth scramble, much to the delight of McIlroy whose side completed a domestic double over the Valiants.[LNB]"Once again Jevons made the difference," he beamed. "He had one chance and he took it and I don't think there is anyone better in the box at this level. He is always a danger and with the superb support of Paul Mullin we are always likely to cause problems every time we put the ball in the box."[LNB]McIlroy admitted his side had to battle for an important win against a side that sat one place below the Shrimps before the start of play.[LNB]He said: "Our home games are going to be vitally important to us if we are to have any chance of the play-offs this season and we have to get results at whatever cost. This was a dogged rather than pretty win but you can't always play attractive football, especially on tricky pitches.[LNB]"Port Vale were close to us in the table so it was a massive win that keeps us hanging on in there around the play-off spots."[LNB][LNB]
