McIlroy hails departing Shrimps

Adam Yates, Matty Blinkhorn, Michael Howard, Diarmuid O'Carroll and Matty Bell all found out earlier this week they would not be offered new deals with the League Two club.

Speaking about each of the players, McIlroy told The Visitor: "I brought Adam here from Leek Town and he has done very, very well for us. But this is just a position where I feel we can be a bit stronger. I hope Yatesy gets fixed up.

"Matty Blinkhorn has been unlucky with his injuries while Michael Howard has missed the best part of two seasons.

"Matty Bell is a great lad and I hope we can help him get sorted with another club.

"Diarmuid is a young boy. He tried his best when he had a run but we have decided to look for something different. He has a very good footballing brain and links up play well but we are after people who can create and score goals."
