Lillis praise for Shrimps

Morecambe assistant boss Mark Lillis praised his side's efforts after a 2-0 win over high-flyers Brentford on Tuesday night.

Second-placed Brentford succumbed to goals from Michael Twiss and Rene Howe at Christie Park, giving the Shrimps their fifth home league win of the season.

Lillis said: "We were excellent all over the park against a very good Brentford side.

"We have beaten a few top teams now at Christie Park and showed that we are a decent side again.

"But we all know we have been far too inconsistent and we need to get it ingrained that we can't just turn it on and off when we want to."

Meanwhile, Brentford boss Andy Scott was left counting the financial cost of his side's loss.

Due to the adverse weather conditions, his side were booked into a Wycombe hotel in order to prevent any of his players being snowed in.

"We were very worried about getting the players up here," the Bees boss told BBC London.

"A lot of them couldn't get out of their houses. We paid for a hotel in Wycombe to make sure we could get all the lads on the bus at the right time.

"So not only have we lost three points but we've spent a few quid on a hotel."

He added: "That isn't what we wanted and our preparation's gone out of the window."
