Keeper commits to Shrimps

Morecambe goalkeeper Scott Davies has put pen to paper on a new one-year contract with the Football League newcomers.

The 20-year-old has been in the first-team squad with the Shrimps for two seasons and although he has made only a handful of appearances, one of those came in the play-off final win over Exeter City in May.

He told the club's official website: "I am delighted to have signed again and I am looking forward to the season."

Davies had a trial at League One club Gillingham earlier this summer, but will now battle Steven Drench for a starting spot at Christie Park this season.
