Jevons boost for Shrimps

Morecambe boss Sammy McIlroy could hand striker Phil Jevons a start for their match at Hereford. The club's top scorer made his first appearance in over a month following a hamstring injury in Saturday's 2-0 loss at Stevenage, entering as a 54th-minute substitute and after coming through unscathed will be pushing for a starting place. On-loan Huddersfield forward James Spencer remains unavailable as he completes his three-match suspension for his sending off in the 3-1 win at Shrewsbury on January 8. Neil Wainwright came in to replace Mark Duffy, who left for Scunthorpe last week, on the right-hand side of midfield against Boro and he is set to retain his place. McIlroy told the club's official website: "I have been speaking to players and we are hoping to bring in at least one new face to cover for Mark Duffy's departure. It's always a busy time of year and a lot of phone calls do go on but we have a couple of targets." Defender Paul Scott continues to be absent as he recovers from a knee operation.
