Inspection at Moss Rose

Macclesfield will hold a pitch inspection on Thursday afternoon to determine whether the Boxing Day visit of Morecambe can go ahead. The big freeze has already decimated large parts of the football programme in the past fortnight and a Football League referee will assess the Moss Rose pitch at 1.30pm. Town chairman Mike Rance said: "As we did before the Gillingham game, we've left the snow on the covers to act as insulation from the harsh temperatures and by Thursday we will have a good idea of the temperatures and other weather conditions going forward. "We know that Boxing Day is an important time for the supporters and so we want to ensure people have as long as possible to make other plans if the game is not going to go ahead, which is why we are taking a look on Thursday. "But with a good attendance usually the case on Boxing Day, we will be doing everything we can to ensure we can play the match."
