Morecambe midfielder Garry Hunter has been assured by boss Sammy McIlroy that he has a big part to play at Christie Park in the coming months.
The 23-year-old has made just three starts since the turn of the year, but McIlroy is backing Hunter to force his way back into the starting line-up in the near future.
He told the Lancashire Evening Post: "Garry Hunter plays a big part in the squad and will have a significant role to play in the coming months.
"Some people are saying why is Garry not in the team, but as a manager you pick that you think is the best side each game.
"Perhaps Garry has been unfortunate not to get more starts and I understand he wants to play every game.
"He is a busy, productive player and a fantastic character who loves a challenge."
